What are exosomes? 

Exosomes are nano-sized vesicles, or bubbles, released by cells. They act as messengers, carrying a cargo of proteins, lipids, and genetic material (RNA and DNA) between cells. This intercellular communication plays a vital role in various biological processes, including tissue repair, regeneration, and immune response.

In the context of hair loss, exosomes derived from specific cell types, such as mesenchymal stem cells, are of particular interest. Dr Horlick uses Purasomes, exosomes derived from bovine colostrum (cow's first milk). These exosomes contain growth factors and signalling molecules that can stimulate hair follicle activity and promote hair growth.

​How Exosomes Work for Hair Loss

Exosome therapy for hair loss involves delivering these vesicles directly to the scalp, typically through injections or microneedling. Once delivered, exosomes work in several ways to revitalize hair follicles:

• Stimulating hair follicle growth: Exosomes contain growth factors like VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), which promotes blood vessel formation, improving nutrient supply to hair follicles.
