What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy. A medical-grade, electronic device is used to create tiny micropunctures in your skin using very fine needles. The injuries that microneedling creates are not harmful, rather, they are beneficial because they stimulate a safe, low-grade inflammatory response, that results in the skin producing collagen and elastin. This process leaves you with brighter, smoother, and tighter skin.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneeding is effective at treating a variety of the most common skin complaints and can be used to improve:

-
Acne scarring
-
Skin elasticity
-
Uneven skin tone
-
Wrinkles and fine lines
-
Hyperpigmentation
-
Enlarged pores
-
Hair re-growth
Microneedling can also be used as a treatment for hair loss, both male-pattern baldness and hair loss caused by the autoimmune disease, alopecia aereta. By stimulating the production of collagen in the scalp, microneedling has been shown to regenerate the health of hair follicles. In male-pattern baldness, the best candidates are those in the early stages, who are experiencing thinning but still have some hair follicles remaining. If you are suffering from hair loss, book a consultation with Dr. Horlick to discuss whether microneedling may be a beneficial treatment for you.

Microneedling treatment
Before beginning any treatment, you’ll undergo a skin consultation with Dr. Horlick, who will assess your individual needs and suitability for microneedling. This consultation will include discussing your past medical history and your skincare goals. The initial consultation is key to devising a bespoke treatment plan to maximise the benefits for your skin.
Every microneedling treatment begins by numbing the treatment area using a local numbing agent to minimize discomfort during treatment. After the numbing agent has taken effect, usually 5-10 minutes after application, Dr. Horlick will perform your microneedling treatment using a serum that will help you to achieve your goals. For example, hyaluronic acid serums are used to help improve hydration, whereas hair serums are selected if you are using microneedling for hair loss. During the treatment, you should not feel any discomfort due to the effects of the numbing cream.
To complete your microneedling treatment, Dr. Horlick will apply a mask to hydrate and refresh your skin post-treatment, accompanied by a 15-minute LED light treatment to maximise the results, soothe the skin and accelerate the healing process.
Which areas can be treated with Microneedling?

The process
Before treatment
At your consultation, your face will be assessed and Dr Horlick will recommend a treatment plan based on this. A consent form will be completed and before photos taken. Numbing cream will be applied and given 5-10 minutes to take effect. You will now be ready for your treatment.
During treatment
The XCellaris Pro Twist professional microneedling device will be used to create micropunctures in your skin. Discomfort should be minimal due to the pre-treatment numbing. You will then have a hydrating mask applied and undergo 15 minutes of LED light therapy to soothe your skin and accelerate the healing process.
After treatment
You will be advised of the aftercare instructions and your next appointment will be booked if applicable.
Results
